Position Summary |
Provides learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of Lone Star College System and the community. Responsibilities include learning facilitation, personal and professional development, and institutional and community service. Primary functions are to plan, develop, and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning. |

Essential Job Functions |
Teaches full range of freshman and sophomore English courses. Collaborates with Continuing Education (CE) specialists to develop CE schedules and teaches CE courses, when applicable.
Teaches courses at a variety of times.
Serves on college and district committees as required.
Serves as a community resource person and represents the college to outside groups when requested.
Works collaboratively with other faculty, CE staff, departments and divisions on schedule development, marketing events, faculty recruitment, hiring, classroom observation, student recruitment and retention efforts, budget development, and special events.
Submits timely required college reports and forms.
Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
Advises students in academic matters.
Provides timely, quality access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods.
Continuously improves instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods, including collaborative learning, learning communities, service learning, instructional technology, and distance education.
Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objective and inform them in a timely manner of their progress.
Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
Develops and pursues linkages with area high schools, businesses and industries.
Responsible for other duties as assigned. |
